Director’s Newsletter #19-18, January 13, 2019

Good afternoon everyone!

(Alli S., Marisa H., & Maggie R. helping at Bronco Roundup)

We have officially hit the midway point of the school year. With that, we have a few things happening this week.

On Tuesday Morning, we will be having a full wind, percussion, and guard meeting in the band hall at 7:30 am. All students in the program are required to be at this meeting. We will be discussing mid-year progress, 2nd half goals, and looking ahead to some other items. Please be sure that your student has transportation to arrive on time.

Tuesday evening will be our monthly booster program meeting. I invite everyone to come out so we have a strong showing for our first meeting of 2019, to really help our students as we make our way into the 2nd half of the school year. We begin at 7 pm in the band hall.

Thank you to our spirit sales parents and students who came out to Bronco Roundup to help with our future Broncos. It was a fun evening to see the future students learn a little bit more about our culture and community at Brandeis, as well as see all we have to offer as a campus.

During class tomorrow, we will be giving all students an opportunity to complete their 6 week’s objectives. Please be sure that your student complete’s their assignments by the 17th (Thursday) as is noted on their objective sheet that was passed out in December.

We are also just around the corner from Solo & Ensemble contest. It is important that if your student is looking to improve their skills, they learn a solo (of their choice) and prepare it for the contest on February 21st. Solo & Ensemble will be held at Brandeis after school that day. More details will be given to the students as we approach that date.

The exam schedule for Brandeis has been sent out to students. If you missed it, you can see it HERE. Please note that Thursday and Friday are half days. Please make the necessary arrangements for transportation for your students these two days. Grades are also due this Friday, so please be sure that your student has completed any missing work or extra credit as soon as possible.

Also, our winter guards, percussion ensembles, full orchestra, and jazz combo/band all have rehearsals this week so be sure to check the schedule below.

Lastly, I'd like to take time to congratulate all of our students who competed yesterday at the All-Area round of the All-State audition process. We noticed quite a jump in many of our students skill sets from December to now, and know that this only happened because of the time and commitment they made to excellence. Nothing of great value comes without amazing work in our activity, or life for that matter. We are proud of all of you who showed up and put your all into your auditions over the last 6 months.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net

GO BRONCOS!
